After you install a keylogger can it trace back?

i got a key logger for my son as i have found out he has facebook (hes 9?) he wont let me know his password and im pancking as you here alot of weird things going on there. Iv installed it but im just wondering can it trace back recent activities or will it just trace after its been installed?
